My Story – From Lost to Found
Over the past 20 years, I’ve packed up my life more times than I can count. My husband’s job took us from place to place, often with just a few weeks’ notice. I was the one holding the family together, keeping everyone else settled, while my own sense of self was slipping away.
â
I’ve experienced it all—the stress of starting over in a new country, the isolation of not having your community around you, and the gut-punch feeling of returning to a ‘home’ that doesn’t feel like home anymore.
â
When we finally repatriated to the UK, I thought I’d feel grounded again. But instead, I felt out of place, like a stranger in my own country. I was caught between my expat life and the life I was supposed to return to. The person I’d become didn’t quite fit the life I’d left behind.

But that wasn’t the end of my story. In those moments of feeling lost and invisible, I realised something powerful:
I didn’t have to stay stuck.

By leaning into the discomfort, redefining my path, and reconnecting with my identity, I found a way to not just survive—but truly thrive.

When H first reached out, she was:
